Justrader Analysis Tuesday the 21st of February 2012
EUR/USD Without little in the way of data and without significant volume the EUR managed to hold its ground on Monday. Later in the day – the nighttime – in Europe, the E.U. announced that Greece had completed enough provisions to qualify for another round of aid. The EUR climbed on the news to its highs and as of this morning the Single Currency finds itself solidly within the upper boundaries of a stronger range. However many questions persists about the long term prospects for Greece and Europe to sail through these uncomfortable waters. Trading should be interesting for the EUR these next few days. Data will remain light from the E.U. today, but plenty of European officials will make it to various podiums to deliver their prospective outlooks. Gold Gold is around 1743.00 as of this morning. Trading was relatively sparse for the precious ****l yesterday with the Americans gone for a holiday. Today should provide plenty of impetus based on the short term strength the EUR has shown in early morning trading. Gold like the EUR finds itself in an interesting juncture and will certainly hear debate about its underlying value. Oil Crude Oil did trade in a fast manner on Monday on political news developing around the Iranian story. Crude Oil is near eight month highs and a speculative sentiment is certainly surrounding it. The battle ground for traders will be between those who feel it has higher to go versus those who believe economic fundamentals do not support its relatively high prices. S&P, NASDAQ, DOW Wall Street will find itself under a microscope on Tuesday morning. The three major indexes have all performed strongly in recent trading and investors who have been sitting on the sidelines may be starting to get pressure from their bosses and clients to participate. Volumes have remained rather thin on Wall Street for months, but recent advances may start to fuel more risk taking. The States will be quiet with data today, but tomorrow housing sector data is on the calendar
